Reporting to the Chief Engineer, the essence of this role is to develop and integrate sensor processing modules and provide a sensor fusion approach that can identify a variety of objects necessary to allow vehicle automation to function as required. Their solution is required to operate a 100kph and identify some unusually difficult object; hence a knowledge of AI based image processing techniques and approaches is essential

Their approach is to be technology agnostic and as such the role may involve integrating third party functions with their own to provide an improved automation implementation.

You will be supporting the development and implementation of SLAM systems and will be tasked with the design and deployment of Visual SLAM libraries as well as getting involved with both new and existing research.This role requires significant existing knowledge as well as a keen passion and enthusiasm to work as a team on one of the most exciting technical challenges of this era.

Core Responsibilities:

·Supporting the definition of the sensor processing and sensor fusion for the vehicle automation system

·Identify physical hardware architecture (sensors & processing modules) to realise functionality

·Software development of sensor processing and sensors fusion for the vehicle automation system (coding & testing)

·Integration of the sensor processing/fusion with the vehicle automation safety system

·Adherence to appropriate development processes necessary for ConAV functions

·Support testing of implementation to ensure it is safe, reliable and operates as designed

Additional Support Roles:

·Support identification and sourcing of a viable supply chain for safety systems by the Technical Director

·Support engagement with niche vehicle OEMs to understand vehicle characteristics and identify configuration/customisation of safety solutions for their needs

·Support integration/installation of safety systems into vehicle platforms

·Support integration of safety systems with other automation sub-systems

·Maintain awareness of potential new suppliers/technologies that can improve our safety offering

Core Skills:

·26262 or 61508 safety expertise

·Functional safety experience

·Vehicle integration

·Experienced in requirements, specification and design

·Experienced automotive embedded software engineering

·Experienced with automotive safety engineering

·Client and supplier engagement

Nice to Have:

·Familiarity with AI techniques (optimisation, machine learning, etc.)

·Familiarity with sensor fusion and vehicle automation

·Knowledge of agile methodologies
