More than 60% of WBS alumni population live overseas and therefore it is essential that we meet the needs of our alumni population all over the globe. This is an excellent opportunity to join the newly formed WBS Global Alumni Engagement and shape the success of the team in achieving our strategic priorities.

You will lead the strategic direction of WBS global alumni engagement by developing high level strategic partnerships with global alumni and alumni communities that support a range of WBS strategic business objectives and lead the delivery of global networks that facilitate meaningful and beneficial alumni contact.

You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, an ability to present and negotiate the case for support of WBS with influential alumni, to achieve the greatest interest in WBS and thereby maximize the potential gain for the School and the University.

The Director of Global Alumni Engagement Manager will work with the Director of CareersPlus and External Relations and will contribute to the strategy of the department and will be part of the department’s senior management team.

The role will necessitate local, national and occasional overseas travel and flexibility in hours will be required for some evening and weekend work

Job Description
Job Purpose

Lead the strategic direction of WBS global alumni engagement. Develop high level strategic partnerships with global alumni and alumni communities that support a range of WBS strategic business objectives and lead the delivery of global networks that facilitate meaningful and beneficial alumni contact. Lead the development of high profile events that build relationships and reputation.

Duties and Responsibilities

 Lead the strategic direction of the School’s global alumni engagement by creating, delivering and constantly innovating an approach to stakeholder management that supports a range of strategic business objectives such as student recruitment, graduate employability, global partnerships and corporate and business engagement. This should be developed and delivered with close reference to the School’s International Alumni Network strategy and the broader 2030 strategy. Lead and manage the generation of insight into segments of the alumni community to inform this strategy and ensure that this activity is a key priority for the team. Ensure that this insight along with best practice in engaging alumni is regularly disseminated to WBS teams with an interest in alumni.

 Undertake direct relationship building with key individuals within the alumni community including identifying ambassadors who are opinion leaders or business leaders for example, and proactively building a relationship with them on a one-to-one basis, creating opportunities for engagement and contribution that is wider than philanthropy.

 Take the lead on guiding the Global Alumni Engagement team in their high profile events management. These events should also provide platforms for connecting with high profile, local and international alumni.

 Lead wider affiliation with alumni through the creation and management of global networks that benefit alumni, students and others connected with the School and the University. Direct and manage other relationship marketing activities to achieve meaningful and beneficial alumni contact.

Contribute to School and University-wide marketing, communications and engagement projects as required and as a senior member of the WBS CareersPlus and External Relations team ensure effective join-up between sub-teams within the School and more widely with the University’s Development and Alumni Engagement team.
