“MaaSsive Opportunities for Modal Shift in Wales” – Transport for Wales (TfW) is on a journey to become an integrated provider of seamless door-to-door journeys. Through better integrated journey planning and ticketing, and expanding access to shared and demand-responsive mobility, TfW will unlock new opportunities for people to travel in Wales and beyond.

In this keynote presentation, Adam Stead, who leads on Digital Strategy at TfW, will introduce the concept of Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS), what it is and what makes MaaS unique within Wales.

Adam will present how TfW approached the problem of creating a MaaS strategy through gaining a deeper understanding of customer needs and challenges, validating ideas for MaaS with customers, and how TfW plan to combine their digital services together to revitalise the digital customer experience in Wales.

“Working with Communities for Inclusive Smart Transport Futures” – In this keynote presentation, Christine Boston, Director of Sustrans Cymru, will discuss the ways in which Sustrans is working with communities to increase data and information that will ensure smart and inclusive travel futures:

“Cardiff Capital Region’s Sustainable Transport and Mobility Ambitions in a Post-Covid, Post-Brexit and Climate-focused Era” – With a cost of living crisis due partly to energy prices and war, a work behaviour change like no other due to COVID, an economic transformation due to Brexit, and a climate crisis that is causing no end of issues for our survival, the ‘norm’ of our fossil fuelled, car driven society is being challenged, and it’s clear that it’s time for action! The response to these significant problems though are not easy to resolve in the transport world, when there are many conflicting priorities – trying to access everyday services, being appealing to markets to set up, grow and stay in our Region, encouraging people to spend in Wales to keep shops and facilities sustainable, and to foster innovation to respond to the changes we need fuel our nation, but not harm the environment.

Whilst there is a lot to do and learn, what is the CCR doing today to enable us to build for the future? How are actions and lessons learnt, impacting on how we go forward to enable facilitating the growth of vibrant, local economies to encourage increasing numbers of people to want to live, work and spend their leisure time in South-East Wales? How is what we do now to provide an effective and efficient transport system, key to ensuring a strong, inclusive, and more equitable economy that delivers prosperity for all, by connecting people, communities and businesses to jobs, services, and markets? Clare Cameron, responsible for all things Transport and Energy within the CCR, will provide some of the answers in this keynote.

“Considering a Shared Transport Energy System” – Enel X is a leading energy transformation business, aiming to making life smarter for people and companies everywhere with business lines that include electrification of public transport, e-Mobility, energy and capacity market activity, and procurement and advisory services. Its focus is on clean energy solutions to support customers in their efforts to meet net zero targets.

In this presentation, Enel X’s Mike Kent ad Martin Navarro will consider the transport system as a whole when local governments and businesses are reviewing their net zero goals and how maximising energy assets for a joined up approach can benefit residents, businesses and boost the local economy.

“Connect the Unconnected – Continuous & Real-time Vehicle to Infrastructure Scanning and Fixed Infrastructure Scanning” – Vortex will present on technologies for environmental scanning products that can provide real-time condition-based monitoring of both highway and urban environment assets. To make proactive decisions you need the correct data from your environment – delivering actionable data is at the forefront of the technologies that Vortex are developing.

This presentation will focus on leveraging this real-time 3D data to provide notifications and reporting so that you know the condition of all of your assets (roads, pavements, street furniture & potential enforcement breaches). By autonomously scanning the built environment through both vehicle-2-infrastructure and fixed infrastructure scanning you can move from reactive to predictive maintenance.

“Using Data to Drive Businesses to Adopt Emission Free Deliveries” – According to the Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, the transport sector is the leading contributor of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, accounting for nearly a third of all GHG emissions in the UK.

XeroE (with a fleet of bicycles, cargo bikes, electric mopeds and vans) is an emission free delivery service and has developed an algorithm to drive the uptake of clean air deliveries.

In this presentation, CEO and Co-founder, Steve Evans, will enlighten us further about a sustainable, data driven and frictionless approach to courier services.
