The STEP (Smart Travel Evolution Programme) is delivering new technology to revolutionise travel and transport in York. The Council has £2.85m from the Department for Transport’s National Productivity Investment Fund (NPIF) to achieve this. City of York Council is holding a Supplier Day at the National Railway Museum in York on the 23rd November to engage with industry, present the challenges and opportunities this programme creates and start to prepare for procurement – the Council are particularly keen to get SMEs and new entrants into the roads transport technology sector involved.

York is the UK’s first-gigabit city, and STEP will make York the first small city to combine data, technology and connected people and vehicles to deliver our policy aims.

If you supply high quality IT infrastructure, transport technology, data collection/processing or have an expertise in data visualisation and presentation, come to this event to:

1) Understand more about the project and the products and services we’re commissioning

2) Sit with the project team on a 1-2-1 basis to explore other potential products and possibilities for the project

3) Meet other companies along the whole supply chain within the sector
