Introduction

The South of England is brimming with scientific research and innovation which is catalysed when people get the chance to meet and collaborate.  It’s a crucial time for businesses within the UK and innovation is key to maintaining a competitive advantage.

The recent ‘Made Smarter’ review estimates that the positive impact of faster innovation and adoption of digital technology could be as much as £455 billion for UK manufacturingover the next decade, creating a conservative net gain of 175,000 jobs throughout the economy and enabling more efficient, cleaner production systems.

The Government’s innovation agency, Innovate UK, and ‘family’ organisations (Knowledge Transfer Network – KTN, Enterprise Europe Network – EEN and the Catapults) provided a gateway to business growth and support programmes including funding, IP protection and effective planning.  This event will explain the roles these organisations play and facilitate one-to-one access for those that are interested in finding out more.

In addition, given the theme of the event, this event will be inviting some large corporates who are keen to explore new digital solution thinking from a wider supply chain.  They will publish challenges to those registered in advance of the event and invite you, as disruptive SMEs to consider potential new solutions. New ideas are vital for businesses and this event looks at turning these ideas into reality.
