This project will be looking to map energy usage and demand by all modes of transport with a view to informing decisions on future net zero refuelling infrastructure requirements. Connected Places Catapult is working on with Energy Systems Catapult for the Department for Transport. Our project has a focus on Greater Manchester as a case study. The energy map will help us to understand both the current energy usage by fuel types and transport mode – and also those required for a future net-zero situation. Things under consideration include the future supply of electricity for both charging and traction, generation and distribution of hydrogen as well as the role of other sustainable fuels.

The aim of the workshop is:

1. identifying data sources to help us to construct the map; and

2. understanding what stakeholders would like to get out of the map to help them with their own net-zero planning.
