Neuron Mobility has announced that a fleet of 250 of its safety-first e-bikes have hit the streets of Sydney, and are now available to hire across Sydney CBD, Waverley and Randwick, including the popular tourist areas of Bondi and Coogee. This marks the company’s first location in New South Wales, as well as the expansion of its services to every capital city across Australia.

This wide-acceptance of micro-mobility in the country signals an increased interest for e-scooters and e-bikes as they become an integral part of the transport mix. According to Neuron Mobility, this is highlighted through recent rider research, which has shown that 45 per cent of rides have replaced a car trip, reducing emissions and congestion. In addition, it found that, on average, 85 per cent of users believe that the micro-mobility operator has had a positive impact on the city.

In order to help riders to better plan their journeys, Neuron e-bikes will be integrated with Google Maps. Through this service, the nearest Neuron e-bike would be highlighted, including the directions to get there and how long it will take – also calculating a price estimate based on the selected route.

Furthermore, riders in Sydney will also benefit from the micro-mobility operator’s Global Access programme, where low-income users are eligible for Concession Passes via various government support programmes.

Neuron Mobility’s GPS-connected e-bikes are geofenced to control where they can be ridden and parked, as well as how fast they can travel in certain areas. Thus, there are a large number of convenient incentivised parking stations across the operating area for the e-bikes.

Similar to the safety features seen in its e-scooter technology, Neuron Mobility’s e-bikes include an app-controlled helmet lock, topple detection, 000 emergency button and voice guidance to help to customers ride safely. The e-bikes will also feature a ‘Follow My Ride’ function that allows riders to share their trip with friends and family in real time, for added safety and peace of mind.

Riders are able to book and use the e-bikes through the company’s app, which can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play. More frequent users have the option to purchase Neuron Passes with no additional unlocking fee, available in one-day, three-day, weekly or monthly options.
