Alibaba-backed AutoX operates fully autonomous RoboTaxi with largest area in Shenzhen

AutoX, has become the first RoboTaxi company to operate a fully driverless RoboTaxi fleet in an entire Chinese megalopolis district in Shenzhen. AutoX was the first Chinese company and second company in the world to offer L4 fully driverless RoboTaxi service when it launched its pilot service in Shenzhen. Read More

UPS will make deliveries using Waymo’s autonomous Class 8 trucks

Waymo and UPS are expanding their nearly two-year-old partnership to include deliveries made using the Alphabet company’s fleet of autonomous Class 8 trucks. The companies had previously only conducted local deliveries using Waymo’s self-driving minivans; now, they will work together on longer-distance freight hauling. Read More

Clemson Corner: Clemson, Ford launch driverless prototype

The future is autonomous and electric, and a team of Clemson students brought it to life through a vehicle prototype designed for 2030 smart city life. In partnership with Ford Motor Company, Department of Automotive Engineering students unveiled their design. Apple reportedly wants to launch a self-driving EV in 2025 with a custom chip

Apple has completed “much of the core work” on a new processor meant to power its secretive autonomous electric car project known as Titan, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports. The milestone comes as Apple is reportedly now accelerating its timeline for the autonomous car it’s developing, with a new target of launching it in just four years. Read More

GM-Backed Cruise Launches Driverless Robotaxi Service In San Francisco, Seeks Approval To Commercialize It

The San Francisco-based self-driving car startup has started providing its fully driverless Robo-taxi service in the city. The first ride was provided to Kyle Vogt – co-founder, CTO, and president of Cruise. The service is currently available for employees of the company as the license that the startup has is still only for testing. Read More

Lyft and partner to launch fully driverless public ride-hail service in Las Vegas

California-based app Lyft, Inc. and Motional, a global leader in driverless technology, have announced the planned launch of a fully driverless public ride-hail service in Las Vegas, the first city in a multimarket deployment. The service will be the first time that fully driverless cars for use in a ride-hailing service are available to the public in Nevada. Read More

BMW is turning to Qualcomm to supply chips for the automaker’s self-driving cars

Qualcomm Inc said that German automaker BMW will use its chips in its next-generation driver-assistance and self-driving systems. San Diego-based Qualcomm is the world’s biggest supplier of chips for mobile phones but has been diversifying its business, with more than a third of its chip sales coming from sources other than handsets. Read More

University of Warwick Project Engineer (Ageing Modelling – Aerospace Electrification) –  WMG are looking for someone with expertise in the practicalities of battery pack design and especially mitigation of cell, module and pack level ageing effects, derived from experience of electro-thermal modelling. These models will be at a cell or pack level or, ideally, a combination of these. Experience of battery ageing modelling in industrial R&D and first implementation in a ‘real world’ environment will be an advantage.
