After nearly three weeks, repair shops in Massachusetts and several other states were able to resume vehicle inspections that were previously halted by a cyber attack on Applus Technologies, a third party vendor that facilitates the inspections.

According to the Boston Herald, many repair shops were given the green light to resume on Saturday. However, some shops are still waiting as Applus works through “more complex technical issues.”

Regardless, Applus is expected to fully compensate the businesses for the lost revenue. Per its contract, the company “must” compensate businesses, the publication reported.

It’s estimated in Massachusetts alone, nearly 200,000 vehicles are in need of inspections.
