Cruise acquires Voyage in another autonomous vehicle merger
Cruise, a majority-owned subsidiary of GM, will acquire self-driving startup Voyage in another major autonomous vehicle merger. Cruise mainly operates its autonomous vehicles in dense, urban settings like downtown San Francisco, while Voyage oversees a fleet of low-speed autonomous vehicles providing trips to residents of several retirement communities. Both companies have tested their vehicles without a safety driver behind the wheel. Read More

Parkopedia announces indoor mapping for self-parking cars

China’s SAIC partners with U.S. lidar maker Luminar on self-driving cars
Laser-based lidar sensors help detect objects ahead of and around the vehicle, and are a key component of many self-driving systems being developed by automakers and suppliers. California-based Luminar in early March announced a deal with the self-driving software subsidiary of Volvo Cars, owned by China’s Geely Automobile Holdings, to offer a combination hardware-software system to other automakers. Autofleet Provides Vehicle-as-a-Service Platform for Keolis Autonomous Electric Shuttle Deployment
Autofleet, a provider of AI-powered fleet optimization solutions, was selected by Keolis,to provide its platform for an autonomous electric vehicle project in Gothenburg, Sweden.The autonomous shuttle service is the first project in an ongoing collaboration to utilize Autofleet’s platform for management of Keolis’ new mobility solutions. Autofleet’s platform aggregates and analyzes granular shuttle data through an integration with Navya’s API in real time to produce actionable insights for operators around the project’s performance. Tesla ‘fires’ Full Self-Driving testers, reveals what in-car camera does
Musk confirmed that the cars are using an internal camera to monitor driver awareness, something that hadn’t previously been widely revealed. It’s not clear if the testers are expressly notified of this fact, but images of the information screens they are presented with that have surfaced do not mention it. In 2019, Musk said the camera would be used in the future to keep an eye on passengers “in case someone messes up your car” when Tesla’s proposed automated taxi service goes into effect. Read More

IETF deployment of energy efficiency technologies, Spring 2021- This competition aims to support the commercial roll out and permanent installation of technologies at industrial sites. This is the second round of the IETF Phase 1 competition. In this strand you must be an industrial business of any size to apply. You can apply on your own or in collaboration with other organisations.
