Hyundai unveils new ‘Ultimate’ autonomous vehicle concept

Hyundai Motor Group has unveiled what it describes as the “Ultimate” autonomous vehicle concept, with the word “ultimate” used part of the category name the company has created. The TIGER – which stands for Transforming Intelligent Ground Excursion Robot – is the company’s second “Ultimate Mobility Vehicle”, or UMV, and the first designed to be uncrewed.  Read More 

Oxbotica’s autonomous vehicle

bp and Oxbotica complete industry-first autonomous vehicle trial at German refinery

During the trial the vehicle travelled over 180km fully autonomously, safely navigating the extensive and complex environment of the bp refinery, including busy junctions, narrow paths, railway crossings, and multiple terrains, during both day and night and in unpredictable weather conditions.  Oxbotica was able to deploy its autonomy software platform and integrate with the existing infrastructure within two hours of arriving on site. Read More

Germany makes autonomous driving legally possible

The German federal government passed the ‘autonomous driving law’ this week. The newspaper reports Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. This makes Germany the first European country to take this step. The legislation is a first step in allowing level four autonomous vehicles on public roads. Germany already had regulations for autonomous driving, but this was only allowed with a special permit and in a demarcated environment, for example in an industrial estate. Northstar autonomous navigation system land trials

Since October last year we’ve been developing our Northstar autonomous navigation software to safely navigate an unmanned vehicle across a remote landscape – some miles from its base station. This development has now progressed to the first stage of land trials using a small unmanned testing vehicle. Toyota to unveil two electric cars and autonomous mobility services

Toyota will unveil two all-electric cars that will go on sale in the US by 2022, and says it aims to offer autonomous mobility services within two to three years. IETF deployment of energy efficiency technologies, Spring 2021-  This competition aims to support the commercial roll out and permanent installation of technologies at industrial sites. This is the second round of the IETF Phase 1 competition. In this strand you must be an industrial business of any size to apply. You can apply on your own or in collaboration with other organisations. Cyber security academic startup accelerator programme year 5-phase 1: Individuals based in a UK academic institution can apply for a share of up to £800,000 to join the cyber security academic startup accelerator programme (CyberASAP). The Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) will work with Innovate UK, part of UK Research and Innovation, to invest up to £800,000 in innovation cyber security projects coming from an academic research base. SBRI : Improving Hip Fracture Outcomes Using Data, phase 1: Organisations can apply for a share of £160,000 inclusive of VAT to develop a solution which will improve quality of care and outcomes for hip fracture patients. This is a Small Business Research Initiative (SBRI) competition funded by the Scottish Government through Health Innovation South East Scotland.
