On November 24, the Vietnam IT Software and Services Association (VINASA) held a ceremony to announce and award 54 Smart City 2020 Awards to firms, organisations and units.
The award ceremony was attended by a member of the Party Central Committee (PCC) and Nguyen Chi Dung, Minister of Planning and Investment. In order to maximise energy, grow sustainably, protect the climate, protection, safety and convenience of citizens and social economic growth, smart cities are the inevitable development pattern of all cities in the world.
The award, organised by VINASA for the first time, is aimed at recognising, honouring and promoting companies, organisations and units that have contributed to making cities smarter, more liveable, branded, competitive and sustainable, while at the same time helping to accelerate the process of digital transformation.
The award also aims to support organisations and developers that have contributed to the growth of Vietnam’s smart cities. Four categories, including six types of urban areas, smart real estate projects and smart buildings, smart industrial park (IP) projects and smart city technology solutions, property projects and IPs, will be awarded the competition.
It will have clear assessment requirements for each category. Construction of the legal corridor, planning, engineering, technical infrastructure, human resources and public services are promoted by Group 1. With a multi-utility and civilised society for people, Group 2 aims to facilitate the building of the living environment. Group 3 promotes the development of an attractive environment for Vietnamese and FDI companies for full business investment.
And in both urban, urban, real estate and industrial real estate ventures, Category 4 supports highly successful technology advancements. The Awards have earned 131 nominations from 73 participating companies and enterprises after more than a month and a half of implementation. To win the Vietnam Smart City Awards 2020, the organising board chose 54 nominations from 26 units and firms.
Five best awards were given to Vinhomes Joint Stock Company, FPT Joint Stock Company, Military-run Telecommunications Company (Viettel Group), Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT). And Da Nang City in particular, was the only city to win the coveted urban prize.
