WeRide robotaxis now available on Alibaba’s mapping service

Weride, a Chinese self-driving startup backed by the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance, is making its autonomous vehicles available for ride-hailing on Alibaba’s map platform Amap, also known as Autonavi. Starting Tuesday, riders in Guangzhou can summon one of WeRide’s self-driving electric cars for a ride through the app, the company said. Read More

COVID-19: Government guidance for employees, employers and businesses

COVID 19 Funding Calls

COVID-19 Rapid Response Rolling – Call Building on the initial calls of their Initiative, DHSC, through the NIHR, and UKRI are jointly launching a rolling call for proposals for rapid research into COVID-19. As this is a rolling call there is currently no fixed end date to the call, we are open to applications and will aim to review complete proposals within 4 weeks of submission. Read More

Covid-19 fast track: £1million Defence innovation funding for Covid-19 – DASA is currently seeking any idea or novel approach that could boost the Ministry of Defence’s capabilities in support of the national effort against Coronavirus (Covid-19). Proposals should be clear as to whether they seek to address the current Covid-19 threat or future similar scenarios. Proposals addressing the current pandemic must have the ability or relevant permissions to successfully deliver the project despite current working restrictions. Read More

EUREKA GlobalStars Japan: Innovate UK, part of UK Research and Innovation, is investing £1 million to fund UK businesses leading collaborative research and development (R&D) projects. Designing sustainable plastic solutions: Innovate UK, as part of UK Research and Innovation, will invest up to £800,000 to fund early-stage, human-centred design projects to reduce the harm that plastics have on our environment and to therefore increase productivity and growth of the UK economy. APC 16: developing the UK’s low carbon automotive capability: The Advanced Propulsion Centre (APC) invests up to £30 million, 3 times a year, in collaborative research and development (R&D) projects. These are pre-production match-funded projects. In this round APC is investing £30 million. Read More

Future flight challenge phase 2: strand 2, development: Innovate UK will invest up to £30 million in innovation projects in phase 2 of the Future Flight Challenge. We will fund projects that develop integrated aviation systems and/or vehicle technologies that enable new classes of electric or autonomous air vehicles. Solutions should be able to be integrated into a mature operational environment, ensuring safe and reliable operation in flight and on the ground. Read More
