Robots fitted with UV light effectively treat powdery mildew in vineyards

Researchers at Cornell AgriTech, develop the first commercial robotic unit fitted with ultraviolet light lamps. These autonomous robots roam along rows of grapes in vineyards at night to effectively treat powdery mildew. The UV light robot, proves effective at killing powdery mildew, a devastating pathogen for many crops, including grapes. Read More

COVID-19: Government guidance for employees, employers and businesses

This guidance also provides details of support available to businesses including:

COVID-19 Rapid Response Rolling Call Building on the initial calls of their Initiative, DHSC, through the NIHR, and UKRI are jointly launching a rolling call for proposals for rapid research into COVID-19. As this is a rolling call there is currently no fixed end date to the call, we are open to applications and will aim to review complete proposals within 4 weeks of submission. Read More

Covid-19 fast track: £1million Defence innovation funding for Covid-19 DASA is currently seeking any idea or novel approach that could boost the Ministry of Defence’s capabilities in support of the national effort against Coronavirus (Covid-19). June 2020 expression of interest: ATI Programme: The ATI Programme represents a £3.9 billion joint government and industry investment to maintain and grow the UK’s competitive position in civil aerospace. Read More

APC 16: developing the UK’s low carbon automotive capability: The Advanced Propulsion Centre (APC) invests up to £30 million, 3 times a year, in collaborative research and development (R&D) projects. Future flight challenge phase 2: strand 2, development: Innovate UK will invest up to £30 million in innovation projects in phase 2 of the Future Flight Challenge. NATEP: helping SMEs innovate in aerospace, spring 2020: Innovate UK, part of UK Research and Innovation, is working with the Aerospace Technology Institute and the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS). Up to £10 million will be invested in NATEP (National Aerospace Technology Exploitation Programme) for aerospace innovation projects as part of the ATI programme.
