LiDAR solution to monitor social distancing as cities reopen

The technology, known as IQueue SafeDistance, uses LiDAR sensors placed throughout a venue or facility. It can then identify overcrowding and send an alert to the building manager. Those sensors combined with data analytics can also predict when an overcrowding situation may occur. Read More

COVID-19: Government guidance for employees, employers and businesses

This guidance also provides details of support available to businesses including:

COVID-19 Rapid Response Rolling Call Building on the initial calls of their Initiative, DHSC, through the NIHR, and UKRI are jointly launching a rolling call for proposals for rapid research into COVID-19. As this is a rolling call there is currently no fixed end date to the call, we are open to applications and will aim to review complete proposals within 4 weeks of submission. Read More

Covid-19 fast track: £1million Defence innovation funding for Covid-19 DASA is currently seeking any idea or novel approach that could boost the Ministry of Defence’s capabilities in support of the national effort against Coronavirus (Covid-19). Proposals should be clear as to whether they seek to address the current Covid-19 threat or future similar scenarios. Proposals addressing the current pandemic must have the ability or relevant permissions to successfully deliver the project despite current working restrictions. Read More

5G enabled road and rail transport trials in the West Midlands: West Midlands 5G (WM5G) will work in partnership with the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) and the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA). Together they will invest up to £2.5 million in innovation projects that develop a new service or product. These must improve road and rail operational efficiency, provide better-connected transport or improve traveller experience.
