Port Authority approved autonomous Technology for testing at the busiest bus lane between New Jersey and New York City

Lincoln Tunnel through to Turnpike carries over 1,800 buses during the 6am to 10am morning-rush every weekday, yet authorities are looking to further increase the capacity with Autonomous Vehicles.

Allowing buses to travel closer together using autonomy is speculated to increase the daily capacity by providing space for 200+ more buses thus letting an extra 10,000 passengers to commute the journey.

It’s said that a 5 million dollar pilot programme will trial the idea through to 2021.
