Government issues “road to zero” transport emissions policy

The Transport Secretary has set out the Government’s ambition to see at least half of new cars to be ultra low emission by 2030 as part of plans to “make the UK the best place in the world to build and own an electric vehicle”. The proposals are outlined in its Road to Zero Strategy, which it says sets out plans to enable a massive expansion of green infrastructure across the country. Read More

Apple employee ‘stole driverless car secrets’

A former Apple employee has been accused of stealing the company’s self-driving car secrets and trying to flee to China with them. Xiaolang Zhang worked on Apple’s driverless car project but allegedly planned to move to Chinese autonomous vehicle start-up Xiaopeng Motors. Read More

TARTA to test autonomous bus technology

The Toledo (Ohio) Area Regional Transit Authority will receive a $1.8 million grant for a pilot program to test autonomous bus technology. The test program will begin in 2019 and is expected to run for approximately three years. Exploring autonomous vehicles is a component in TARTA’s recently introduced Move Toledo strategic vision that outlines a variety of initiatives to enhance public transportation in metro Toledo. Read More
